Pangasinan Poetry Seminar-Workshop at PSU Lingayen postponed. No definite date is set. Duh! I pressume the school administrators' backed out. They are not probably ready for this kind of thing. Pangasinan literature is definitely going nowhere if certain educational institutions cannot consider and sponsor a one-day event. Malagilion: Soniton Pangasinan is finally getting into shape. This is the 51st sonnet and I am still working on some pages. I intend to complete the book with 55 poems but I might come out with a few more works until the last week of September 2003. After this I am going back to writing poems in English or perhaps I might write a book of Pangasinan haiku or short poems. Yup, I am probably the first Pangasinense who penned a haiku or tanka in Pangasinan language :) agay la'y abig tonian kabuasan abangonan ko'y sibong na anuyiao ya mankugkugtot ed dorongaoan tan manim-imis so balatabat kaluskus na liman onkikimey sagitsit na kaoali'd dalikan tareren na pinablin katupag alay dakep a sonatan denglen no ompatey ak ed sayan ora ay palabas yo pa ni Kataoan ta labay kon nalikna so bilay ya anggapo'y guna tan segsegang anggan sakey ak labat ya duka ag ko isalat 'yan agew aya

I just received a text message from Dr. Linda Andaya that our literary workshop in PSU Lingayen will push through this August 27. I will be lecturing on the history of Pangasinan literature. I also received an email from the office of the president of Lyceum-Northwestern University, Atty. Gonzalo T. Duque. We will setup the meeting soon regarding the organization of the Pangasinan Studies Center in the said institution. Another poem added to the Pinabli manuscript. pabitla baloto nen Kabunian no ondalas balintuagan say onsakay mansublayan ya onleksab tan ontagey ag nayari'y onalagey

As suggested, I emailed the NCCA's Regional Coordinator for Literature to inquire on the Individual Writer's Grant for my 2nd book Malagilion: Soniton Pangasinan . I was told the this Grant hasn't been awarded to a regional language. But what the heck! I could be the first :) I intend to submit the Malagilion for the the NCCA's Poetry Prize 2003 but the again I doubt if it'll be awarded to a regional language. 43rd sonnet added to Malagilion: Soniton Pangasinan based on the story of Father Odorico, an Italian missionary and ambassador to China during the reign of Emperor Ming. He was aboard an Arab ship bound to China in 1324 when they were hit by a storm. They disembarked and found shelter in the coasts of Talamasin (Bolinao). Talamasin at that time was ruled by King Dalisay, the father of Princess Urduja. Father Odorico offered a thanksgiving mass in that place and christened some inhabitants. When the sea was calm, they resumed their voyage. Talamasin is the Tawalisi in the accounts of Ibn Batuta who probably saw the coasts while he was on his way to China in 1344 or 1347.
