Velasco cites 2 ASNA Awardees from Sta. Barbara

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan – “ We commend Police Superintendent Eric E. Noble and Santiago B. Villafania for giving honor and prestige to our beloved hometown Sta. Barbara, ” said town mayor Reynaldo V. Velasco after giving the 2 ASNA awardees Plaque of Recognition and Appreciation during the Flag Raising Ceremony on April 19, 2010 in this town. “ These achievements are in line with our Ten-Point Progress Agenda particularly in the area of Values Formation and Strengthening. With the examples shown by these two achievers, we are once again exemplifying leadership by example. We hope that others will follow so that we will be able to highlight Sta. Barbara not only in the map of Pangasinan but of the whole country, ” he added. Noble, former Sta. History unfolds with “Agew na Pangasinan”

“Today, we make history! At long last, Pangasinan has a birthday!” This was the pronouncement of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. to a large multi-sectoral crowd who gathered at the Capitol Plaza last April 5 during the Opening and Commemorative Program of the 430th Agew na Pangasinan. Espino said for this celebration, all Pangasinenses set aside their political differences and gathered as one people to celebrate “Agew na Pangasinan” for the very first time. He said he took pride in initiating the move to determine the province’s founding day. “Today, we stand as one province, proud of our rich culture and heritage, proud of our distinct character and identity as Pangasinenses,” Espino said, adding “that we must celebrate this historic moment with firm resolve to sustain the collective effort to transform Pangasinan as the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family.” Espino also gave a rundown of the accomplishments the province achieved under his leadership for the past two year

Province honors 11 outstanding Pangasinenses

The honor was given during the province's historical celebration called Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) last April 5. “I value this more than the other awards because it comes from my own province, ” said National Artist for Literature Francisco Sionil Jose, a native of Rosales town. “It is really an unexpected honor. I am very happy for my mother who hails from Alaminos that someone from her family was able to gain this recognition. I'm humbled like the other awardees,” said Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist/writer Rina Jimenez-David. “This will serve as an inspiration to other Pangasinenses (wherever they are working or studying at) to think back home and extend a helping hand to their fellow Pangasinenses,” Police Supterintendent Eric Noble of Sta.
