Dr. R. David Zorc is heading back to Manila on the 13th of July, 2004 to conduct a seminar with some folks from Zamboanga at Ateneo. Tentatively, on the following week, July 20-23, he's going to have a follow-up seminar on the Maguindanao, Maranao, Pangasinan and Yakan grammar and dialog drills. I am currently writing a Pangasinan Grammar and Dialog Drills with a fellow Pangasinense, Ryan Amor. Hopefully, we will be able to finish the book this September 2004 including the recording of the dialogs. sonito 162 abukaybukay ko la'ra'y egpang no iner nisulat so uliran tan bilay aoaran nen Urduja ya kuan dan prinsisa ed porooa bangbalet palso kono iraya ontan met na nanarian tonia ta bonga'y kanonotan labat la so ngaran ton inian da'd aoaran pinalesa'y palun tagaumen basi ed sulsulat nen Batuta no akin et insakdal nen Rizal sikato labat la'y makaamta no anto so niotel la'd nonot ag iya naborak a bengat la

I don't receive invitation too often and this one could be an opportunity but I don't have the means to go to the said World Writers Festival in India. Perhaps I could tap some support from our Local Government in Pangasinan but I am not so sure if I could get any. So, anyone interested to go? Poetry News section is working fine. There's a few seconds delay in fetching the poetry news feed but I wouldn't mind the delay for an added content to my boring Diurnal :) hehehe Anyway, here's another sonnet I've just finished this morning. It's actually a versification of my short essay Psywar na Literati ed Ibali posted last June 21. I too strongly believe that prose can be a laboratory for poetics. sonito 157 oala'y supiatan na umaanlong tan sumusulat dia ed Ibali dia ma'd ulupan ono palian anlongan odino palapagan oala'y kania-kania ran pilatek ira'y kabkabat la'ran dinidyus tan arari ed Parnasu'y anlong sikaran natutubua'y payak tan manaaral ni ya ontekiab et sisibaren la'ra'y agila legan a maimpis ni'y bagu ra dia'd saray tinogiop ya anlongan paliagan labat so kasungpalan say ikikinon saray dingaran

I attended Loving Out Loud last night as one of the poetry readers. Actually, my friend Jason Chancoco had learned earlier that he is one of the readers as he received a confirmation email from the organizer. I did not. Probably because one of the poems I sent for screening is too profane for a love poem. Anyway, we found out before the reading that my name was on the list too :) The first reader was the actor John Arcilla followed by Rofel Brion and Paolo Manalo, who, by the way, did not read any love poems unless he considers Jolography a love poem. Chin Chin Gutierrez rendered a short uyayi and read a couple of poems followed by Pete Lacaba (read a selection of poems from his book Edad Medya ) and Jason Chancoco. I was slated after a lady who read a verse from the Bible and then the rest of the readers and poetry lovers. There were no stars last night. As expected, it rained but we did not leave until the drizzles turned into a heavy downpour. I believe there were a couple or a f

I was in this place called Conspiracy along Visayas Ave., Q.C. two nights ago with a bard-brother. I learned that they hold poetry readings there every Tuesday around 9:00pm to 12:00am or so. I'm almost done with my first bottle of beer when Mikael Co and his girlfriend entered the room followed by his group (I believe they are part of the Ateneo literati). Vim Nadera and Mike Coroza arrived a few minutes later. Well, it was a poetry reading alright but it's not the usual kind of reading that I am familiar with, attended and/or organized. There was supposed to be an open mic but after the featured, guests and regular poets read their pieces, they left knowing there are still readers waiting for their turn. I guess it was not meant to be an open mic but just a showoff and pomposity of the known poets who organized the event. So, bard-brothers, if you do not belong to any of the literary groups that frequents Conspiracy, I suggest you find another venue where you are most welcome

I went through the entire manuscript of the Malagilion: Soniton Pangasinan again and dated the pages according to when it was written. I forgot to date about nine sonnets out of one hundred fifty-three. The first sonnet was written 25th of August, 2002. On the other hand, I slightly modified my blog template with the addition of this so-called RSS or XML site feed intended to be viewed in a Newsreader or syndicated to another site. Loving Out Loud In celebration of the 170th Anniversary of Ayala, Ayala Center Makati and Filipinas Heritage Library present Living Out Loud, a celebration of both poetry and the community of poetry lovers, on June 18, 2004, 7:00 p.m. The reading will be set under the stars, at the cozy and serene Bamboo Park of Greenbelt 4. The atmosphere is relaxed; words will flow like wine. On June 18, the reading will focus on the one true inspiration of poetry, love. Loving Out Loud, Open Mic night, celebrates the agony and the rapture of this incorrigible emotion that continues to make life worth living. Open Mike means everyone is invited to share their (mis)adventures on love's unpredictable landscape. Special invited readers are poet Rofel Brion, actors John Arcilla and Chin-Chin Gutirrez. Interested readers will have to register and send their poems to the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati Avenue, Ayala Triangle, Makati City, or email events@fillib.org.ph or fax to 892-1810 or 759-337

I just received a forwarded email regarding the plan to organize all the Pangasinan Associations of North America, Canada and everywhere else into an INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF PANGASINAN ASSOCIATIONS. Well, it's about time and I can't wait for this to materialize. I hope this is not another "anlong ya imbalikas ed dagem." On the other hand, here's another sonnet for our Governor-elect Victor Aguedo Agbayani. This is my second poem addressed to him. I took a half-day leave last Saturday just to see Arts Across Borders at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) with my friend, Jason. I particularly enjoyed Silence My Soul (a chant based on an Indian Tagore), Hudhud (chants of the Ifugao) and Atchek (an Indonesian Prayer-song). But of course, the food is excellent. After the food galore, Jason and I watched a couple of movies at the Chinese Film Festival until around 9pm. I went home with a poem in my head :) 150th sonnet added to Malagilion: Soniton Pangasinan . This is my target and intended number of poems for this poetry collection.
