Hmmmm... I just found out today that Starweek Magazine is not running a poetry publication. Anyway, I've re-submitted my works for the Manila Times weekend issue and again for the Philippine Panorama. Die-hard, huh? Yet another poem in Pangasinan language/dialect. Still no response from the literary editor of the Manila Times. Anyway, I've just submitted some of my works for possible inclusion in the forthcoming issues of Sunday Inquirer and Starweek Magazine. On the other hand, a friend from Switzerland is here in the Philippines on vacation for a couple of weeks now. I was able to meet him last night and I've enjoyed chatting with him. fragment things i see for the first time seem so real... so real at the moment of seeing whether with mine eyes or with my heart i am moved by their beauty as if they were remnants or images vanished from the face of Iram but as i grow older and wiser the beauty of the star-studded sky for instance do not move me anymore i might have been running-out of wonder just as i'm losing this child within me

What do I usually do if not scribbling some poems or trifles? Recycling the literary web that is. Down memory lane with F. Sionil Jose HE always wanted to become a medical doctor but he went on instead to become one of the greatest Filipino writers. The legendary author F. Sionil Jose, named National Artist for Literature in 2001, continues to be hale and hearty at 78 years old. He spends his days writing prodigiously still – first in his journal, then proceeding to any of the three novels he’s finishing at the moment. At the rate he’s going, there appears to be no waning of his memory, the keen attention to details and insightful perceptions which have made his works a brilliant mirror of Philippine society. Book Review: Passionate prose about poetry Poetry has been marginalized in our culture. But there are a few masters who rise to its defense so stirringly that they can send us back to the shelves to renew our acquaintance with the poems we were once force-fed in lit classes. Seamu

OK. This is kinda unpoetic but I have to distribute an interoffice memo today pertaining to the Emilio Aguinaldo College web site. I am on the verge of updating the content of the said site. Will also work on the campus virtual tour but on top of that I still am under the College of Medicine - Informatics. I really don't have any idea why is it called Informatics despite the fact that our functions are mainly creating medical lectures using PowerPoint and Web presentations. Anyway, I'm a busy bee these days. I am maintaining three web sites not to mention my personal site. on a rainy night sip the nectar soup in a sweet cup of a poem in an empty room while the lyric rain falling on the rooftops O listen to its rhythm early in the morn behold Aurora climbing the blue horizon I am also working on these haikus: morning prayer a spray of yellow flowers bow before the sun --------- August rain- soaked in mudcake a water-buffalo Google! I'm working again on the latest layout for Dalityapi Unpoemed. Going back to basic design this time though kinda graphics intensive. I submitted one of my poems for the Taj Mahal Review - An International Journal Devoted To Literature. Will try to submit more poems as soon as I receive feedback from my first submission.

I submitted some of my poems for the sunday magazine of the Manila Times. I inquired yesterday if they entertain email submissions of literary pieces and the person I've talked over the phone said that they do. Submitting your works for the Philippine Panarama, by the way, is definitely a no-no. You'll not hear anything from them. I believe they don't read email submissions at all. Still have no idea if there's going to be a maiden issue of the Oist! magazine. The said literary magazine is supposed to be released this July 2002. myth lovers make promises honeysweet true as the colour of the rubious sun roundhead poets foretell and fulfill them in thin sheets of pulps and tablets of stones o the proper the proper false they are!

The latest version of The Province of Pangasinan web site is now available online. I still need some new pictures though to spice up the pages. In the News: Poetic minstrelsy and Levi Celerio LEVI Celerio, National Artist for Music and Literature, is a lyricist par excellence. His name has become a byword in Philippine music, owing primarily to his prolific lyric writing set to music by many of the country's top composers. He was said to have written 4,000 songs in all. Name any familiar Tagalog song and chances are the phenomenal Mang Levi wrote its lyrics.

I'm back, thanks to the 'flu virus' I was in hell for 2 days! duh! Anyway, I just signed my new appointment as Website Developer for the Emilio Aguinaldo College. No salary increase though except the raise in position and honorarium pay. ( sigh! tell me I need another job ) On the other hand, I will be changing the layout of the Pangasinan section soon. I'm also supposed to release the maiden issue of PRL - A Poetry Journal of Philippine Regional Literatures this August 2002, but as of now I only received one submission. I'll hold the publication until I have at least 3 or 4 submissions to start with. Nexus: Dandaniw - Ilocano or Iluko poetry.

I've got colds for a couple of days now and I'm rather unproductive these days. Anyway, here's an old poem of mine though I really don't have any idea if I posted it before. Currently revising some of my poems. river hari revisited the warm west wind's whispering brought me here where i first embraced the waxing moon one night when she came down to wash her face this is where i made love to my muse when i was a youth of sixteen summers this is where i penned my first wanton poems on the breasts and thighs of a fallen angel perhaps the warm west wind's whispering brought me here that i may haply remember the half-forgotten days of my youth now that i am through with blue houses plucking withered roses on six-pence beds BREAKING SIGNS: The Noises of Culture by Cirilo Bautista Jose Garcia Villa once remarked that “Filipino poets are earless because Filipino poetry is tuneless.” It is not, we imagine, a congenital disease that dislocates their meter and rhyme, but a

I still don't have time to write. I've always wanted to write something that is worth reading here but I cannot put my thoughts into words. There's this irksome thing that clouds my imagination whenever I look into the computer screen. Dalityapi is still a daily pit and too succinct for a blog. I'm sure I'll come out with something content-wise. In the meantime, here's a couple of old poems for the rainy days. rain songs 1. i've known too many summers who do not bother to breathe my name nor resound the songs i've sung for them i've learn to love them more than rainy days they've come and gone out of my life like the friends i've known by the warmth of their smile like the ones i've loved by their touch and summer kisses another summer has left me another friend, another love and i only have the rain the lyric rain that washes away the tears on my cheeks i should have known her then i should have listen to her music as i am listening no

I was able to test my site using Mozilla 1.1 and Netscape 7. Oh me! my site really looks bad in the said browsers and some javascripts that I've used aren't working. I'll try to make some alternative pages that will work on NS/Mozilla. Poetry in Motion: Capiz Rediscovers Literary Roots by Hazel P. Villa For the people of Panay centuries ago, the lamay or vigil for the dead was something they looked forward to: it was entertaining and actually fun – something folks in urban areas today would probably frown on. (NCCA Feature)

In the News: Novice shortlisted for top poetry prize A poet with only two books to his name is vying with others who have published up to 20 to win Britain's most valuable prize for verse. Teen's poem grabs queen's attention Alexander Pirrie, a teen-ager who wrote a poem praising Britain's "hip hop happening cool mean queen" met with the monarch at Buckingham Palace to receive first prize in a poetry competition. And here's a copy of that Cool mean POEM for the Cool mean QUEEN! Cool eh? Boogie in the Garden Hey there Queen! Gonna boogie in the garden. Boogie so loud Gonna need a Royal Pardon. I managed to get into the office/school despite the heavy rain. The streets of Manila are flooded already and some areas are like Augean Stables because of the uncollected garbage. The city of Manila is like a bad poetry during rainy days. Jose Rizal on the net? Cool! To celebrate Dr. Jose Rizal’s birthday last June 19, Jose Rizal University launched the Jose Rizal website—www.joserizal.ph – that focuses on the life, works and writings of the country’s national hero and patriot. ( from Manila Bulletin's Youth & Campus section)
