And if we have a poet laureate here in the Philippines, it would be Cirilo F. Bautista. I am cracking my nutshell over his book entitled "The Trilogy of Saint Lazarus". His poetry veered away from the lyricism of Jose Garcia Villa.



Bautista's work "Sunlight on Broken Stones: The Last in the Trilogy of Saint Lazarus" won the Centennial Literary Contest for Epic Poetry in English.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language.
