InBox: The Philippine Literary Arts Council (PLAC), in coordination with Writers Union of the Philippines (UMPIL) and Creative Writing Foundation, Inc. (CWF), invites you to honor us with your presence during the Asia-Pacific Conference-Workshop on Indigenous & Contemporary Poetry to be held in university venues in Metro Manila from August 20 to 24. Funded by The Japan Foundation, this important assembly, the first international poetry conference to be held in our country, will involve poet-delegates from Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, United States, together with the representative of the host country.

The objective of the conference-workshop is to seek, determine and disseminate whatever linkages may still exist between indigenous and contemporary poetry. We want to discover what images, themes or forms were in play centuries ago, and which are still being used in the present. Coordinating entities are the Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing, the Bienvenido N. Santos Center for Creative Writing and Research (BNSCCWR) of DLSU, the Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP), and the UST Center for Creative Writing and Studies. The daily sessions will be held in each of these university writing centers.

A Welcome Dinner will be hosted by Senator Loren Legarda Leviste, and the Farewell Dinner by Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas F. Ople. Both are private affairs involving the core participants, as is the Break Day engagement. All other activities are open to the public.

On the other hand, my www.eac.edu.ph/dalityapi subdomain is down for a couple of days. If you sent me an email using sonny AT eac.edu.ph and bounced, please try to re-send it again.
