I've just learned that the official publication of Gumil Filipinas is also entitled Balikas. I've changed the Balikas section of my site to Pinabli : A Journal of Pangasinan Poetry so as to avoid conflict or issue that may arise with the said publication. Pinabli is a Pangasinan term which means Beloved.

Makata Issue No.9 is now available online featuring the poetry of Eugenio R. Corpus III, Rosendo Makabali, Charles Carpio, Misael Paranial and Alexander Martin Remollino.

One of my haiku is included in September 2002 issue of the The Heron's Nest:

soft rain
a frog leaps from
one leaf to another

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language.
