I attended last night's book launching of the Malate Literary Folio at De La Salle University with my friend Jason Chancoco. We were given the chance to read poetry along with the members of the Malate Literary Folio, Plaridel, and other guests. Jason read three of his poems and I, my poem entitled Ciryl for Levi Celerio. The poetess Rebecca Añonuevo was also there and graced the event by reading a couple of her poems.

It was my first time to read a poem in public and I felt as if I am stepping out of my shell. Might as well memorize some of my poems :-)

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language.
