SURIAN OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR BAGUIO WORKSHOP

The U.P. Institute of Creative Writing (Surian sa Malikhaing Pagsulat) is now accepting applications for fellowships to the 42nd U.P. National Writers Workshop, to be held at the UP College Baguio from 20 April to 3 May 2003. Fellowships will be granted to writers in English, Filipino, Bikol, Iluko and other major languages in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Applicants are advised to submit either 6 poems, 2 short stories or 2 one-act plays. Fellowships are awarded by genre and by language, so incomplete submission in any genre and language will be automatically disqualified. Mixed/experimental forms may also be submitted.

Applicants should enter, using a pseudonym, four hard copies (double-spaced, sequentially collated and stapled) and a computer diskette (preferable MS Word) containing the entries (Times New Roman, font size 12). Entries should be accompanied by a sealed letter envelope with the author's real name and the pseudonym, application letter, a 2" x 2" I.D. photo, short resume, and attestation of originality, i.e. that the entries are original works and not adapted or translated from other materials, whether local or foreign. All manuscripts in Bikol or Iluko and other major languages in the Visayas and Mindanao should be accompanied by an English or Filipino translation.

Fellows from previous UP workshops need not apply.
