NVM Gonzalez Awards Now Open

The NVM Gonzalez Awards is now open to all Filipino writers in English for the Best Published Short-story of the Year. The award carries the grand prize of P50,000.00. All short-stories in English must be published from November 2002 to October 15, 2003. The deadline for submission is on November 3, 2003. All editors of university and college journals as well as national magazines are also encouraged to submit their choice of entries for the Award. Entries must be mailed in six (6) copies of the manuscript (typed written double spaced), including one (1) original published form, and the author's profile to:

The Award honors the late National Artist for Literature NVM Gonzalez' abiding love for the short story, and seeks to preserve and encourage excellence in this genre among Filipino Writers. His evocative imagery and sympathetic portrayals of humble Filipinos altered the course of Filipino writing in English.

Contest Rules

- Short- Stories must be written in English (approximately 10,000 words)
- Published between the period of November 2002 to September 30, 2002
- Entries must be submitted in 6 copies of its manuscript, and a (1) copy of the original published form.
- Entries must include a short profile of the author (including contact addresses, numbers and photograph)
- Authors must be Filipino regardless of citizenship
- Entries must be submitted on or before November 3, 2003
