I attended the AWARD meeting last July 19 at DTI Office in Dagupan City. Dir. Jaime Lucas was very pleased with the new AWARD Junior members organized by Dr. Victor Illustrisimo. The AWARD Junior members will help us in the preparation and the production of the forthcoming issue of the AWARD magazine. We also discussed about the Book, Photo & Art Exhibit to be help on Oct. 11-16 at Dagupan Business Center. Our president also suggested the possibility of adopting the Arguillas Residence as one of our major projects.

Prior to the meeting, Dir. Lucas handed to me the amount of P5,000.00 from the Office of the Governor as a financial assistance for the publication of my first book Pinabli tan arum ni'ran Anlong. With enough funds, the book will hopefully come out this October 2003.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
