I just finished preparing the materials to be used during the organizational meeting for the Pangasinan Council for the Culture & the Arts (PCCA) on July 19 in Dagupan City. I'm still identifying some key objectives for the organization. One would be the development and management of Pangasinan's natural, cultural and documentary collections.

The Ulupan na Pansiansia'y Salitan Pangasinan has not started documenting, preserving, maintaining and storing collections though we are already into publications of contemporary literature via the Balon Silew - the official publication of the Ulupan.

I am sure that the would-be PCCA and the Ulupan will soon lead the acquisition of materials which are representative of our province's cultural and documentary heritage.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991.
