nisulat ed talurtur a libri
say dayew a pangiter na galang
tan say kansion tekep to'y laineng

say salmo ya onkana'd simbaan
tan say himno ed banoan letakan
say pabitla nen panaon aman
tan say uliran tan say diparan

say lirikon anggapo'y sonata
tan say pastoral na kaumaan
say dangoan a petek o ebatan
kaiba'y hambayo tan pangermen

daan ya pasintabi tan bando
tan arum nin bayes ya istilo

Seeking Christian poetry
A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by Christian Fine Arts Society. There are 50 prizes in all, including the $1,000 grand prize, totaling almost $5,000. The contest is free.

To enter, send one poem of 21 lines or less to Free Poetry Contest, 9588 Thornbush Lane, Fishers, Indiana 46038. Or enter online at www.freecontest.com. The deadline for entries is Sept. 15, 2003.

Poems may be written on any subject, using any style, as long as there is a spiritual inference. Be sure your name and address appears on the page with your poem. A winner’s list will be sent to all entrants.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
