In the News: Literary work where 2 rivers meet by Lito B. Zulueta

One of the most important literary retrievals in recent years is the discovery of an extant 70-year-old manuscript of a Pampango translation of Jose Corazon de Jesus' Tagalog novel in verse, "Gloria." The translation by Roman Leoncio, a largely unknown Pampango writer, was never published although De Jesus, a.k.a. Huseng Batute, the Tagalog Pushkin if there was one, had apparently given it his imprimatur based on a 1930 letter to Leoncio that was recovered along with the manuscript.
