UP ICW Sets Guidelines for 2004 Workshop

The UP Institute of Creative Writing (ICW) has set the guidelines for the 43rd UP National Writers Workshop to be held 11-24 April 2004. The venue will be announced later.



Twenty fellowships will be granted to writers in English, Filipino, Bikol, Iluko and the major languages in the Visayas and Mindanao. The grants will cover board, lodging & stipend.



Applicants are advised to submit either 6 poems, 2 short stories or 2 one-act plays. Fellowships are awarded by genre and by language. Incomplete submissions in any genre or language will be automatically disqualified. Mixed/experimental forms may also be submitted.



Applicants should enter using a pseudonym, four computer-encoded hard copies, font size 12, bound or fastened, in separate folders, with a diskette (preferably MS Word). It should be accompanied by a sealed size 10 business envelope with the author’s real name and the pseudonym, application letter, a 2” x 2” ID photo, short résumé and attestation of originality (i.e., that the entries are original works and not adapted or translated from other materials, whether local or foreign).



All manuscripts in Bikol, Iluko and the major languages in the Visayas & Mindanao should be accompanied by an English or Filipino translation. Fellows from previous UP Workshops need never apply.
