NATIONAL ARTS CONGRESS AT THE FOLK ARTS THEATER

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), in cooperation with the Film Foundation Council of the Philippines (FDCP), invites the art and culture community to an ARTS CONGRESS to be held on February 19m 2004, Thursday, from 9:00am to 4:00 pm at the Tanghalang Francisco Balagtas (Folk Arts Theater). Assembly time is at 8:00am at the Liwasang ASEAN.

This congress, dubbed as Kilos Kultura Para Sa Kinabukasan, will gather artists, cultural workers, art managers, researchers, scholars, art educators and other practitioners from government and non-government organizations from all over the Philippines. Despite its voting power of around 2 Million, the artists' sector badly needs to consolidate to be recognized by our political leaders as a force to contend with and for them to acknowledge arts and culture as an indispensable pillar of national development. For this congress, the Presidential candidates will be invited at separate times within the day, for each of them to present their respective platforms for arts and culture.

After the congress ASYA 2004 SA CCP will be launched on the same day at 5:00pm at the CCP Front Lawn. The public is invited to this launch event.
