New officers of the Ulupan na Pansiansia'y Salitan Pangasinan was inducted by Vice-Governor Oscar B. Lambino last January 31, 2004 at Lingayen, Pangasinan.



Inducted officers for 2004 are:



- Dr. Linda R. Andaya - President

- Ptr. Sergio A Bumadilla - Vice President

- Dr. Catalina Felicitas - Secretary

- Dr. Juanita C. Anoc - Treasurer

- Ptr. Isidro M. Loresco - Auditor

- Santiago B. Villafania - Business Manager



Plaques of Recognition were given to Mrs. Cecilia R. Daranciang for Outstanding Managing Editor, Dir. Jaime P. Lucas (Author of the Year) and Santiago B. Villafania (Writer of the Year).



The event was graced with the presence of the espouse of Vice Governor Lambino, Atty. Geraldine Baniqued, Dr. Perla S. Nelmida, Mr. Filemon Villanueva and other province mates from the US.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body. In his first book Balikas na Caboloan (Verses from Caboloan), the Pangasinan anlong resurfaces asserting its tradition amidst intersecting and pollinating genres and literary influences.
