SECOND ADVANCE NOTICE FOR
Tenth International Conference on Austronesian Linguistics
"10-ICAL", 3-6 January 2006, Philippines

The 10th International Conference on Austronesian Linguistics (10-ICAL) will be hosted by the Linguistic Society of the Philippines and SIL International, 3-6 January 2006 in the Philippines. Tentative venue: Barcelo? Asturias Hotel (and cooperating hotels) in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Fees to be announced.

Scholars are invited to offer papers on any aspect of language or linguistics specifically related to Austronesian languages, including but not limited to: historical and comparative matters, phonetics and phonology, morphosyntax and discourse, lexicography and semantics, language preservation and development, literature, and language teaching. Papers may be data- or theory-oriented. Presenters will have 30 minutes each--20 for presentation and 10 for discussion. Theme- or area-related workshops and symposia are invited.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
