TALAANG GINTO 2004 WINNERS BARED



Jess Ferrer has announced the winners for the Talaang Ginto, an annual poetry contest sponsored by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino. The winners are the following:



1st Place--Genaro Gojo Cruz (Laguna)

2nd Place--Jose Jason L. Chancoco (Iriga City)

3rd Place--Elyrah Loyola Salanga (Quezon City)

1st Honorable Mention--Rachel Sison

2nd Honorable Mention--Eros Atalia

3rd Honorable Mention--Rhoderick Nuncio



The awarding ceremonies will be held in time with the Balagtas Day on April 2 in Manila Diamond Hotel. The winners will receive a cash prize and trophy.

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
