Finalists to Premio Tomas para sa Literaturang Bikolnon named



The Arejola Foundation for Social Responsibiltity announces the 10 best entries submitted to the 2004 Premio Tomas Arejola para sa Literaturang Bikolnon, envisioned to become Bicol’s premier literary prize.



For the Rawitdawit (Poetry) Category: “Que lugar este kan dayo sa sadiring banwa” by Jaime Jesus Borlagdan of Tabaco City; “Magmata ka na, Uryol” by Araceli Calomos-Delgado of Naga City; “Tigsikan #2 Asin Iba pang Rawitdawit” by Jose Jason Chancoco of Iriga City; “HALI(Y)A” by Kristian S. Cordero of Iriga City; “Magigi Nan Maogmang Lugar an Bilog na Kabikolan” by Estelito B. Jacob of Camaligan, Camarines Sur; and “Rinagot kan Kalot asin mga Tulang Nagreregla” by Nery Nuyda Ronatay of Libon, Albay.



For the Osipon (Fiction) Category: “Apat na Uryol” by Araceli Calomos-Delgado of Naga City; “Biyaheng Bulan” by Kristian S. Cordero of Iriga City; “Ina sa Sakong Daghan” by Estelito B. Jacob of Camaligan, Camarines Sur; and “Pacto de Sangre” by Rizaldy Manrique of Iriga City.



Each of the finalists will receive a Diploma of Merit in an awarding ceremony on September 25, this year, 7:00 pm at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary, Naga City. The top winner of each category, to be named in said occasion, will receive 10,000.00 cash and the Premio Tomas Arejola para sa Literaturang Bikolnon medallion designed by artist Don Abella. The public is invited.



Envisioned to be an annual undertaking of the Arejola Foundation, the literary prize is named in honor of a patriot, writer and leading member of the Propaganda Movement. The foundation is also the moving force behind the Juliana Arejola-Fajardo Workshop para sa Pagsurat Bikol held in Pili, Camarines Sur every December and the Cry of Resistance festivities and outreach program in Taban, Minalabac, Camarines Sur held March of each year. The latter commemorates the ascension of Gen. Ludovico Arejola as over-all commander of Ambos Camarines during the Filipino-American War in 1900.
