Nope, this is definitely not a reply to Kurimaw's latest post on "What is a poet?"

what is it to be a poet?

it is to confess you are the One
of the many-selves within you
fond of scribbling trifles
and fooleries if not

lethal lampoons

it is to wear the faces of Janus
to hide the mirth and the misery
of the heart longing to be free

it is to write poiesis
you do not really understand
poeisis that just come out
from the founts of your mind

naturally.musically.beautifully

like the first flowers of May
or the first flight of a fledgling
or the first cry of a new born child

it is to be by yourself
mastering your indifference
while others boast of being good poets
sowing good seeds on good soil

it is when you find some time for yourself
knowing who and what you really are
or knowing what you are not
while the hyddeous God you knew

seems so very very far

writing his own heroics

or couplets

with his

kissless

lips
