Call for Production Staff and Audition Call for Actors for an independent full-length Pangasinan digital film called ANACBANUA (The Child of the Sun)

ANACBANUA is a full-length non-narrative/non-linear montage of images and sound that will use feature, documentary and experimental film techniques to create a cinematic vision of present-day Caboloan*. Anacbanua will be filmed in HDV format. The anlong or Pangasinan-language poems of Santiago Villafania, Mel Orpilla, and a few other contemporary Pangasinan poets will be featured and will serve as the audio narration in the film. Principal photography will take place in scenic and iconic locations in Central and Western Pangasinan for five days this mid-November 2008.

Open positions for full-time production staff are the following:

PRODUCTION MANAGER
SCRIPT SUPERVISOR
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
SOUND MAN
ASSISTANT CAMERAMAN

The roles to be auditioned for the actors are:

UMAANLONG (Poet) – the main character; male; 25 to 38 years old
MUSIA (Muse) – female; 16 to 32 years old; must have shoulder-length hair
OGAW (Child) – the main character’s alter ego; male; 6 to 7 years old

Individuals with or without any working or acting experience in television production, film/video production, or theater/play production are welcome to apply and/or audition. Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
