Premanjali launch on Feb. 5, 2013 at the New Delhi World Book Fair

Vijaya is a journalist by profession, writes poems and short stories. Vijaya is an upcoming poet who has turned the poesie of a distant land into our own land’s poems. She has translated Santiago B Villafania’s book of unpublished poems ‘Murtami’ into Hindi entitled ‘ Premanjali’. Its poems embrace us with a unique tone and melody, and we remain in it for a long time. ‘swansong of the sea’ (translated into ‘ Nadi ka Antim Geet’), A Night Peace (translated into ‘ Rajnigandha’), Those Who do not Care (translated into ‘ Beparwaah’), Country of my Own (translated into ‘ Swadesh’), To a Rebel Poet (translated into ‘ Ek Vidrohi Kavi Ke liye’) are some of the poems the beautiful poems in the book. While reading them the writing doesn’t appear non Indian to me, I think that it complements the poet and the translator.

She translates with delight which reflects in her translations. I am more excited to introduce ‘Premanjali’ than Vijaya who is happy to present poems of a distant shore to her people. I am hopeful that ‘Premanjali’ would be a unique and fresh change for the huge community of Hindi readers.
