You spend your life

trying to tight words

and concentrate them

into a few lines

and once you become

a known poet

they ask for interviews

newspapers, radio stations, TV stations,

they ask you to take your altar of words

and convert it again into blablabla blablabla

to take your art

and make it as unArt as possible

to take your best poem

and destroy it

by explaining

what you didn't

mean

by writing it.



The author will appear in Israeli TV - Channel 2 next wednesday on the program "Hotse Israel" (The one with Dob Elboym) on wednesday 16 at 5:30 PM

Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991.
