Pangasinan writers lacked the invigorating environment of a literary movement and cut off from all creative support from the “literary ambient” of the so-called mainstream literati. Thus, here some of my thought on creating the Urduja Creative Writers Association (U.C.W.A.) yet another literary association / organization in Pangasinan.
The U.C.W.A. is created and/or organized with a purpose of putting the association to be at par with the leading literary circles in the country.
- promote New Sensibilities in Pangasinan literature
- publish works in local, national and international publications
- translate works written in Pangasinan, Iluko and Bolinao into Filipino & English and vice versa
- represent Pangasinan in literary and cultural organizations

And yes, we should have a poetry month and perhaps a poet laureate :)
