New York Times Bestselling Author, Marisa De Los Santos, To Speak In Historic Filipinotown

LOS ANGELES (May 2008) – Marisa de los Santos, a nationally recognized Filipina American author of the bestsellers Belong To Me and Love Walked In will be featured at a Filipino American Library (FAL) Book Launch in Historic Filipinotown on Friday, May 30 at 7:00pm at Remy’s on Temple (2126 W. Temple St., Los Angeles). The event marks the author’s first visit to this area of Los Angeles that has most recently experienced political and economic renaissance since Filipinos first settled here in the early 20th century. The author will read and sign copies of her latest novel Belong to Me which will be on sale that evening. Light fare and valet parking are available. The Filipino American Heritage Institute (FAHI) is a non-profit organization committed to maximizing resources, private collections, donations and volunteers to ensure the preservation and access to historic and modern Filipino and Filipino American literature facilitate individual and community service. FAL, a division of FAHI, is open Mondays-Fridays 1:00-5:00pm and by appointment. FAL Book Launches are held regularly in Historic Filipinotown venues, such as the Remy’s on Temple Art Gallery, where Ms. De los Santos will be featured. Santiago Villafania is a bilingual Filipino poet who writes in English and in his native language of Pangasinan. Born in Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on 31 January 1971, Villafania graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pangasinan in 1991. Villafania advocates for the resurgence of Pangasinan as a literary language. His works in the vernacular are some of the most representative, if not among the few that comprise that Pangasinan contemporary literary body.
