Seminar-Workshop on Children in Crises

National creative writing fellow (U.P.-Diliman, 1976) Leopoldo Mijares Delacruz, Jr., Ed.D., invites writers and other individuals interested to attend the Seminar-Workshop on “Retooling the Approaches in Managing Children in Conflict with the Law” on March 16-17, 2012, from eight o’clock in the morning to five in the afternoon at the St. Alexandra Estates Clubhouse, Avida Communities, Barangay Dalig, Antipolo City.

Dr. Delacruz, Jr., the Center’s executive assistant, believes that one may understand better “our children, especially now that they are at risk of being trapped residually in the web of socio-spiritual crises”, if he is given some technical know-how in dealing with them, rather than still adopting the traditional view of parenting and dealing with juvenile delinquency.

The two-day event will be conducted by St. John of the Cross Center for Psychological Intervention and Traumatic Stress Management (SJCC), with Dr. Leo deux fils M. Delacruz as its director and resource speaker. The venue is along the National Road of Teresa, Rizal, a kilometer away from Robinson’s East Homes, or 300 meters after Dalig National High School, eastbound.

St. John of the Cross Center is a non-governmental outfit, deeply involved in extending professional help to victims of trauma and other-related emotional disturbances. The Center trains volunteers and professionals who are willing to learn the psycho-spiritual processing of emotional trauma, including emotional first-aid among victims of natural disasters and man-made incidents and crises.

Topics to be tackled are crisis intervention, domestic violence, conflict resolution, peace & order and other similar concerns that affect not only children and even adults as well. Himself a creative writer having authored November 15, and Your Royal Highness, a collection of poems and short stories in English, respectively, Dr. Leo deux fils is a Psychological Association of the Philippines-certified psychologist (CLLP), a licensed guidance counselor and a Board-certified in Stress Management (BCSM), by the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

The regular registration fee is Php 1,500.00. This includes a certificate of attendance, refreshments, lunches and a copy of the Emotional First Aid Kit which Dr. Leo deux fils authored. Undergraduate students with valid school IDs shall be charged Php 1,000, if they register on or before March 14; Php 1,100 after March 14, 2012.

Inquiries about the seminar-workshop may be made at the Clinic address located at Our Lady of Peace Multi-Purpose Corporate Building, Room B-2, 2/F, corner Carigma and Sto. Niño streets, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City, a walking distance from Antipolo Church.
