It's been a month now and still no replies from Manila Times and Sunday Inquirer Magazine about my submissions. I assume my poems are already junked . Oh me! So, how do you get your works published here in the Philippines? First, you can ask the Palanca Award winners or those who have been a participant in a writing workshop in UP, UST or Silliman. If you can't get any response from them, that's the time to contact the so-called elite in the Philippine literary circle. You're lucky if you ever get a word or two from them but that won't assure a space either for your writings in their publications. iliw agaylay samit a dengelen so tula na tagsibol no say angob daray rosas milmilad siplog na dagem no say linaew natipon ed dakulap daray dika tan diad kapan-usbong iran tanaman agaylay samit a dengelen so cansion na tagsibol kulaan mo la balet inaro? pialagar kan unsabi pian napunas la komon iyay bakat na amatanir lan tiaguew ed sayay nan-ermen kon mata abayag lan maka...

Re-uploaded the old desktop wallpapers I created: Doveglion (a tribute to my favorite Filipino poet, Jose Garcia Villa), Draco (a metaphor), and The Book . Feel free to downlad and use them. Once upon a time, I was once a community leader (CL) & co-liaison in an on-line community called Geocities Paris . My site was then named Poesie d'Orient . Well, those were the days when Geocities was a cool community :-p

Just browsing the NCCA Features (August issue) first thing this morning and a feature by Lissa Gene Mata entitled Reaching Critical Mass: The UP Likhaan Creative Writing Center really caught my attention. It would be a dream come true for me if I find myself one day in one of those UP Writing Workshops. I'll keep on dreaming . . . I really hope to come out with a collection of verses written in my native tongue. I had an uneasy feeling while on the bus this morning. A part of me wants to get out of my shell to explore a world beyond my daily realities. Before I reached the office, I had this line on my mind: The animal kingdom is the eyes of a collective mind and each kind has its own realities. It's just a thought that came out of my restless faculty. Anyway, there seems to be a problem with Y!Geocities mail form script. In the meantime, feel free to send me your literary news by email.

I found this post while browsing the following URL : Balon Silew (Babasaen Daray Pangasinanse) is a Journal publish quarterly by the ULUPAN NA PANSIANSYA'Y SALITAN PANGASINAN (Association for the Preservation of the Pangasinan Language). For more info, please contact Dr. Linda Rivera Andaya, Editor, Director Pangasinan State University Cultural Affairs at psu-cc1@mozcom.com I thought I'd also promote this on my site. I just emailed the editor of the said journal to inquire if they are accepting literary contributions written, of course, in Pangasinan language. I hope this publication will serve as an outlet for budding Pangasinan writers / poets like me. I am quite excited having learned that there is a publication that promotes to preserve our dying dialect. On the other hand, here's another poem in Pangasinan language / dialect: akin akin et gagaoaen ko 'ya tepet mo makapalec kuan mo say tepet ko balet akin et andi akin et maliket ka ni ya manbasay bayes ya salita?...

Hmmm... whatever happen to Water Blossoms (www.waterblossoms.com) -- one of those sites that publishes short stuff / poems online? I've other plans for the Balikas section of my site. I might convert it into a poetry journal. By the way, Balikas contains poetry written in Pangasinan language / dialect - my little constribution to keep a dying dialect alive. And finally, a response for my Manila Times submissions: Thank you for submitting your poems. I shall certainly read them. I'll be letting you know soon, through email, whether we will publish them and when that will be. Kinda cloudy anyway I'm crossing my fingers. hehehehe!
